The Art of Facilitation Online | 13 July – 31 August 2022

Tena koe. Haere tahi tatou me enei roopu.   Welcome to everyone working in groups.

The Art of Facilitation online course is based on the book of the same name (2nd edition) by Dale Hunter, Director of Zenergy Global and informed by Zenergy's vision of whole people cooperating in a sustainable world. It is an engaging, experiential and embodied course: we use facilitation theory, frameworks and processes to guide you on a learning journey that  incorporates learning-by-doing, self and peer reflection, and working with our whole-person and the environment.

We believe facilitating is a way of being rather than simply a way of doing. We facilitate groups to do their work by being whole, caring and present. Well facilitated groups synergise and perform beyond their own and others expectations. The  group will move out of being purely functional and mechanical in their work (getting the job done) and into becoming developmental, purposeful and innovative. Therein lies the Art of Facilitating. Having facilitators that can resource a group to realize and actualise potential while doing their work is gold.

In this course we explore the fundamentals of group facilitation through theory and experiential learning. We play with various online techniques and technologies so you can experience what works best for you. We resource you to discover your facilitation style and the developmental path for the facilitator you aspire to become. This is not about us - as perceived experts - telling you what makes a good facilitator; rather it is about you discovering this for yourself through the course. We believe this approach will increase your confidence, creativity and capability to facilitate groups well.

The Art of Facilitation is suitable for individuals with varying levels of facilitation experience across government, private and community sectors. Individuals involved in facilitation, engagement and education, as well as group/team leaders, will develop their capacity and capability to work with groups through this course.
